Briggs Hardware assemblages:

The company had just finished their new corporate headquarters and realised the importance of completeing the space with artwork. We were excited by the idea of incorporating their products into a commissioned series of sculptures.. After completing a prototype Jane Runyeon began studying the company's catalogues, talking to product managers to make sure all the lines were included and selecting specific Brigg's products for making the assemblages . The shapes and colors for the background wood surface were chosen to echo the proportions of doors, cabinets, windows and drawers: places where these tools, knobs, latches, box drawer slides, hinges, saw blades, and sanding paper are all utilized. The artwork educates and entertains. To take objects that are made or distributed by a corporation and redefine them with a series of sculptural artworks challenges us to see these objects in a new way. It provokes conversation with everyone associated with the organization, CEO's, clients, vendors, customers and employees. A historical record is also created because product lines change.
